Ruby Hanna Hotel in "Das Gerber" in Stuttgart

The upper floor of the existing shopping centre "Das Gerber" in Stuttgart was converted into a hotel with an area of 120 m x 120 m. The company Heinrich Schmid GmbH & Co. KG, based in Metzingen, was commissioned to expand the building, which was not originally designed for hotel use. One of the challenges was that the walls of the hotel rooms could not be extended to the exposed ceiling due to existing installations and the height of the floor. Building services installations had to be routed into the rooms from above. Effective soundproofing also had to be ensured in the construction of the hotel, and a fire protection solution had to be developed to meet the F30 fire protection requirements for the intended use of the building as a hotel. A wide-span continuous fire protection ceiling in F30 was planned and implemented over most of the area, from above and below. The walls were constructed beneath the fire protection ceiling and the installations were routed or sealed through the fire protection level in a professional manner. The drywall construction conceals the highly complex technical building equipment while meeting all sound and fire protection requirements.
