Indoor climate
Room climate drywall: information, solutions, components
Neither too warm nor too cold: with a climate ceiling in drywall construction, the temperature can be controlled easily and efficiently – enhancing well-being and concentration.
Climate ceilings in drywall construction
The indoor climate is crucial, especially in public buildings, offices, and other facilities, and should be pleasantly cool in summer and comfortably warm in winter. Employers are legally required to regulate the temperature from a room temperature of 26 degrees, while the minimum temperature for seated activities is 20 degrees. This is also in their interest, as concentration levels drop by around 25% at room temperatures of 28 degrees and above.
Climate system for a good indoor climate
However, there is a powerful and worthwhile alternative to air conditioning and heating. Drywall construction provides the perfect solution for maintaining an optimal indoor climate. Our efficient climate ceiling systems effectively and economically heat and cool rooms. Such a system's operating costs are approximately 40% lower than those of conventional heating and air conditioning systems.
Functionality of climate ceilings in drywall construction
Surface temperature control systems, such as heating and cooling ceilings, operate based on the radiation principle and can be used alongside geothermal systems (heat pumps). Unlike traditional heating and cooling systems, heating and cooling ceilings eliminate disruptive operating noises and air circulation, which can cause unpleasant draughts and spread dust particles.
Ceiling cooling with gypsum boards
We contribute to achieving the perfect indoor climate with Climafit: the world's first gypsum board containing graphite in its core. The graphite granulate used for this is a building material made from flake-shaped natural graphite. Natural graphite is harmless to health, non-flammable, chemically and thermally very stable, and exceptionally conductive. During the manufacturing process, the volume of natural graphite is expanded up to 400 times. The resulting granulate, whose thermal conductivity is comparable to aluminum, is mixed into the gypsum mass and processed into highly thermally conductive Climafit boards.
In what ways does RIGIPS help to improve the indoor climate?
Climafit by RIGIPS offers similar temperature control to a metal ceiling, but with the added benefits of a gypsum ceiling: positive room ambience, high living comfort, perfect moisture regulation and soothing room acoustics. This enables you to consistently achieve natural comfort and highly efficient temperature control.
The benefits speak for themselves:
- Very good thermal conductivity in gypsum boards with λ = 0.52 W/mK.
- An improvement in performance values of up to 40%.
- Proven and tested in practice since 2007.
- Tested with over 20 system providers.
- Quick and economical to process.
Cost-effective and visually appealing
The increased thermal conductivity of the Climafit gypsum board with λ = 0.52 W/mK compared to λ = 0.2 W/mK in conventional gypsum boards allows heating and cooling pipes to be installed more sparsely. This results in significant savings in material requirements during installation. Additionally, the system requires less energy to operate.
Rigips Climafit boards are also available with various Rigitone perforation patterns. An added bonus: in combination with our acoustically effective perforated boards, you can set targeted visual accents.
Effortless processing
Good workability is standard with our drywall systems, including Rigips Climafit. The graphite content in the gypsum core does not lead to any restrictions when using conventional drywall tools. The attachment is carried out as usual directly on the support profiles, and cuts can be made easily and precisely. Jointing can be done without any issues following the usual processing guidelines.
Notes on screwing
Due to the high graphite content of the Rigips Climafit boards, they differ in some properties from conventional gypsum boards. For example, high demands are placed on the corrosion protection of the fastening materials. Therefore, when screwing, ensure that the Climafit boards are fastened with the corresponding Climafit quick screws (3.5 x 25 mm). These screws are corrosion-protected thanks to their special coating.

What are the advantages of using climate ceilings in drywall construction?
A pleasant climate can significantly contribute to well-being. It should not be too cold or too warm, and the humidity should be comfortable. Drafts, on the other hand, should be avoided. Ideally, the climate control system is economical and efficient.
Our climate ceilings meet all these requirements.
Quietness
With our heating and cooling ceiling systems, any disruptive operating noises and air circulation that can cause unpleasant drafts and spread dust particles are eliminated.
Safety
Our Climafit gypsum boards contain graphite granules, a building material made from flake-shaped natural graphite. Natural graphite is harmless to health, non-flammable, chemically and thermally very stable, and exceptionally conductive.
Time
Good workability comes as standard with our drywall systems. Rigips Climafit is no exception. Fastening is done directly onto the support profiles and, as usual, cuts can be made easily and precisely. Joints can be seamlessly incorporated in line with standard processing guidelines. This ensures rapid progress in construction as usual.
Sustainability
Gypsum is a natural raw material. The same applies to the graphite granules made from flake-shaped natural graphite used in our Climafit boards. Additionally, climate ceilings require significantly less energy than conventional air conditioning systems due to the excellent thermal conductivity of the gypsum boards used.
Indoor Climate
Our climate ceilings with Climafit enable gentle and highly efficient temperature regulation even under extreme external conditions. Compared to climate ceiling systems with metal cladding, Rigips Climafit also offers all the well-known advantages of ceiling boards made from the natural material gypsum: a positive room atmosphere, high living comfort, perfect moisture regulation, and soothing room acoustics.
Design Freedom
Climafit boards offer a wide range of variation options typical of Rigips products. They can be combined freely; different perforation designs provide numerous options for visual and acoustic room design.
