When drywall constructions need to withstand particularly high loads, gypsum fiberboards are often used.

RIGIPS offers a wide range of products with outstanding properties in its Rigidur product line for applications in floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs.

Thanks to an innovative production process, Rigidur gypsum fiberboards, made from natural gypsum and recycled paper fibers, not only meet the requirements of cutting-edge drywall building materials but are also suitable for construction projects with increased demands for structural integrity, fire protection, or sound insulation due to their very smooth yet hard surface.

Rigidur gypsum fiberboards – especially robust for high loads in drywall construction!

Smart solutions for walls, ceilings, and floors

Drywall the smart way
When drywall constructions need to withstand particularly high loads, gypsum fiberboards are often used. Rigips has developed various smart solutions for Rigidur gypsum fiberboards. For wall and ceiling constructions, the Rigidur H gypsum fiberboard is used. For floor structures, Rigidur offers a specially tested system of screed elements with tongue-and-groove joints and additional system components.

Q3 surface quality

Image
Rigidur Icon Oberfläche 100

Hard, smooth, robust – premium surface quality
The extremely smooth and closed surface of Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards in Q3 quality, free of protruding fibers or sanding marks, is factory-primed and perfectly suited for subsequent coatings without additional surface treatments, ideal for:
• finely textured wall coverings
• matte, non-textured paints/coatings
• top coats with a grain size of no more than 1 mm

Effortless load attachment

A Rigidur® wall can handle a lot
Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards are extremely stable. Therefore, loads such as pictures and shelves can be easily and securely attached to walls made of Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards using simple screws. Heavy loads, such as large flat screens or kitchen cabinets, can be securely mounted on Rigidur walls using plastic or metal cavity anchors.

High sound and impact noise insulation

Image

Keep noise out, bring peace in
The relatively high weight of the stable Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards has a very positive effect on sound insulation.
Wall: In combination with mineral wool insulation, the soundproofing values of standard constructions are significantly higher than those of solid building materials with comparable wall thickness or gypsum plasterboard walls.
Floor: Rigidur screed elements laminated with special mineral fiber insulation are highly effective in reducing impact noise, even with a construction height of just 30 mm.

Reliable fire protection

Image
Rigidur Icon Brandschutz 100

More safety
Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards are DIN-tested and classified as "non-combustible, building material class A2." This allows for safe and economical fire protection constructions ranging from F 30 (single-layer cladding) to F 90 (double-layer cladding). Under intense heat, the chemically bound water in the gypsum crystal is released, cooling the entire construction and preventing the spread of fire.

Healthy building materials

Image

More well-being
Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards are made from natural gypsum and recycled paper fibers.
Additionally, they are listed as healthy building materials in the SENTINEL HAUS portal. For example, walls made exclusively from Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards show virtually no detectable formaldehyde in the indoor air – unlike some wood-based products.

Exceptional surface hardness

Ideal when the going gets tough
Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards have high surface hardness and are resistant to everyday mechanical stresses such as impacts, blows, and scratches.
Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards are made from gypsum and recycled paper fibers, which are pressed on a rolling line in a special production process, resulting in the particularly robust and durable board surface.

Comfortable indoor climate thanks to high thermal storage capacity and built-in humidity regulation

Rigidur Icon Raumklima 100

Always a good indoor climate
Thermal storage capacity: Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards provide temperature-balancing thermal storage capacity due to their high mass. Combined with modern insulation materials, they enable contemporary thermal protection. The thermal storage capacity of a wall made of Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards is significantly higher than comparable constructions with other building materials, contributing to a balanced indoor climate.
Humidity regulation: Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards absorb excess moisture from rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens and release it back into the air when the surrounding air is dry. This special property of Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards is as effective as ecological clay plaster walls with their well-known moisture-balancing properties.

Indoor air purification: Filtering formaldehyde from the air
Additionally, the Rigidur H gypsum fiberboard range with the "Activ’Air" additive actively improves indoor air quality by absorbing air pollutants and converting them into harmless compounds. Air pollutants, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can come from furniture, carpets, paints, or building materials, can be burdensome and negatively impact well-being – gypsum fiberboards thus act as air purifiers.

Developments in formaldehyde limit values in many countries of the European Union and WHO member states suggest that stricter limits for Germany or the entire EU will be introduced in the near future. With the Activ’Air systems from RIGIPS, you can already prepare optimally, especially since the air-purifying effect of gypsum fiberboards remains effective for very long periods. Calculations show an effectiveness of at least 50 years.

When the going gets tough: Earthquake safety of gypsum fiberboards

But not only high stress can place extreme demands on the building materials of your next project, natural forces can also have a damaging effect on a building. The concern about such cases is not entirely unfounded even in this country: year after year, there are mild earthquakes in Germany. In some regions, even approximately every 5 years up to a magnitude of 5.

Gypsum fiberboards such as Rigidur H can meet even these high demands. The expert opinion of the Research, Development, and Material Testing Institute VHT Darmstadt G-650-07-II certifies the Rigidur H gypsum fiberboard with ductility class 2 and its unrestricted applicability for absorbing earthquake loads in seismic zones 2 and 3.

Rigips Compact: Maximum sound insulation up to 98 dB with Rigidur® H gypsum fiberboards

Special sound and room acoustic challenges can often not be solved with standard constructions.

Using the example of RAW Hall 20 in Berlin, we show you in Rigips Kompakt 02/2020 how RIGIPS can support the development of special solutions.

Download at the end of the page: Rigips Kompakt 02/20: Maximum sound insulation up to 98 dB with Rigidur® H gypsum fiberboards

The following completely new and complex room-in-room construction was developed in close coordination with all parties involved in the construction, including KAEFER Construction GmbH, to meet the special requirements in RAW Hall 20:

Image
Rigips Kompakt Systemaufbau je Wandseite

Task:

Creation of 40 adjacent "noisy rooms" for various film, music, and sound productions that can be used simultaneously without disruptive acoustic influences from neighboring boxes.

Image
Rigips Kompakt Wandkonstruktion

Solution:

Development of a completely new wall construction made of four layers of Rigidur gypsum fiberboards with an embedded steel sheet, achieving a measured sound insulation of 98 dB, including wall cladding.

Construction with model character

The wall structure, despite the mass necessary for soundproofing, acts like a flexible shell that perfectly matches the acoustic requirements. The calculated behavior of the individual components and the entire construction was determined in advance by the acousticians of wax GmbH with regard to different frequencies and vibrations. Subsequent on-site sound measurements in the installed state resulted in a sound insulation value of 98 dB from room to room.

Result:

In the "House of Music," 40 rental boxes with acoustically unique designs have been created as particularly innovative room-in-room solutions.
