The Lensing Media Port in Dortmund's city harbour is a four-storey building that was originally used for storage and was rebuilt after the war. After gutting the building and expanding it with an annexe, the complex now shines as a modern office building offering gastronomy and event spaces. Setting new standards for workplace design, the Lensing Media Port features large, light-filled office spaces with visible industrial-style installations, harbour views, meeting points and café oases. Numerous Rigips constructions were installed to meet all requirements, ranging from single and double stud walls to facing shells and shaft walls, as well as soundproof and fireproof walls and fire and installation walls. Throughout the building, ceilings were deliberately omitted to make the building technology visible. The interior construction experts at Kratz Innenausbau GmbH were tasked with executing the various penetrations for pipes, ventilation and electrical installations through the drywall to a particularly high standard. Additionally, adjacent components could not be contaminated by drywall work or filling. Technically clean execution and the highest surface quality were required. Further challenges included installing sliding ceiling connections for skirting boards over partition wall systems that were to be installed later, and producing and installing curved ceiling skirts for curved glass partition wall systems as custom-made solutions. Four layers of Rigidur gypsum fibreboards, each with its own radius, were prefabricated and installed on site for the ceiling skirts.
