For every moisture requirement, the right solution
The fleece-reinforced special gypsum board as a top alternative to cement-bonded construction boards: Rigips Glasroc X
It premiered 5 years ago and has impressed ever since, particularly with its...
- High resistance to moisture, humidity, and mould
- Usability in damp & wet rooms, exterior ceilings, and exterior walls in timber construction
- Easy installation with standard drywall tools
Tested safety
Extensive tests, including those conducted by VHT Darmstadt, confirm that Rigips Glasroc X is suitable for use in areas exposed to water up to class W3-I.
Additionally, joint trials with renowned sealing product manufacturers have resulted in product recommendations from Saint-Gobain Weber, Ardex and Sopro.
Thanks to the properties of Rigips Glasroc X, timber construction also benefits, as the moisture-resistant board is recommended for use in exterior wall areas with the applicability certificate (ETA-21/0179).

Mountain station of the Zugspitze cable car: customised drywall construction at Germany's highest construction site
The Zugspitze is Germany's Alpine tourist attraction. Since the opening of the new "Zugspitze Cable Car" in December 2017, around 500 visitors per hour have reached the famous summit. To make the mountain station "fit" for these visitor flows, extensive renovation and expansion measures were necessary. Powerful drywall systems were used for the high-quality yet robust interior construction, as these optimally meet the high demands of this extraordinary construction site. For instance, all sanitary and restroom areas were fitted with double-layer Rigips Glasroc X cladding, and maximum safety was ensured by corrosion-protected quick-assembly screws and hydrophobic joint filler, among other system components.
The Dorfkrug in Hanstedt: contemporary living comfort with historical ambience

With a usable area of almost 3,400 m2 and a street frontage of around 35 meters in length, the Dorfkrug is one of the largest half-timbered houses in the Lüneburg Heath region. A total of 22 elegantly designed apartments and a modern retail space used by a bakery on the ground floor have found their place here. All wet rooms were fitted with Glasroc X, and it wasn't just used in the wet rooms! As with any half-timbered façade, the elaborately and lovingly detailed exterior walls of the Dorfkrug are not fully resistant to driving rain. To provide additional moisture protection, drywall professional Martin Lübbert and his team also used the mould-resistant Glasroc X from Rigips for the interior cladding of the exterior walls on the side exposed to driving rain.
"For me, the best wet room board on the market in terms of processing and wet room resistance."

Hotel Fährhaus in Koblenz: enthralling with unique architecture and top functionality
Photos: FÄHRHAUS Koblenz GmbH & Co. KG
From a distance, the hotel resembles an elegant cruise ship anchored on the Moselle River near Koblenz. In fact, the "Fährhaus," built directly on the river, is an impressive luxury hotel with "built-in" flood protection. The six-storey building offers guests everything they could desire: spacious, light-filled rooms and suites that are both modern and stylishly furnished, culinary delights, and a top-notch spa and wellness area. A central challenge arose in the roof level of the building, designed as a stepped floor. This is where the approximately 465 m2 spa and wellness area with a panoramic sauna and an impressive outdoor pool is located. For almost the entire interior construction in this area, the responsible drywall company chose the Rigips Glasroc X wet and damp room board. It complies with type GM-FH1 according to DIN EN 15283-1 and is optimally suited for the higher water exposure classes W2-I and W3-I due to its product properties. This is confirmed by the certificate no. Z-655-21 from VHT Darmstadt, making the board suitable for areas around swimming pools or shower facilities without any issues.
Commercial property in Pulheim: perfectly staged
Exterior ceilings are often real eye-catchers that immediately draw attention. It is therefore not surprising that they are used as essential design elements in many architectural plans. What is not visible at first glance: more and more exterior ceilings are being constructed using drywall methods. This was also the case with the new construction of a gastronomy and retail building in Pulheim, North Rhine-Westphalia. The special feature here included a completely covered outdoor dining area on the ground floor. The perfect staging of this large exterior ceiling area was carried out according to the Rigips System UA10GX and with the innovative Rigips Glasroc X. In addition to the powerful system components, this ceiling system offers maximum safety, as it can be used as a normatively regulated system without special approval, providing reliable solutions for any requirement.
Maria Laach Monastery Restaurant – indoors or outdoors? Always with Rigips Glasroc X
The origins of the high medieval monastery complex Maria Laach date back to the 11th century. Much younger is the monastery restaurant belonging to the abbey, located on the southwest side of Lake Laach in the heart of the volcanic Eifel region. The modern gastronomy operation offers space for up to 300 guests, distributed across an indoor and a spacious outdoor area. The latter is largely protected from unpredictable spring weather by an overhanging roof. The implementation of the ceiling was carried out with Rigips Glasroc X. Thanks to its precise workability – it can be cut simply by scoring and snapping – connections with shadow gaps could be executed effortlessly. Another advantage: the joint connection could be completed with simple joint filling – elaborate joint bonding or surface reinforcement was not necessary. These advantages were also utilised by the construction company inside the monastery tavern. Among other things, the commercial kitchen (requirements of water exposure class W3-I) was fitted with Rigips Glasroc X.
KFW 40 Efficiency House in Plauen: standard in Alpine chalet style – and Rigips Glasroc X exterior wall
In recent months, an innovative three-story single-family house was built in Plauen, Saxony. The first two floors were constructed entirely from solid cross-laminated timber, while the basement was made of reinforced concrete. The house can supply itself energetically almost autonomously from March to October. Rigips Glasroc X was primarily used in the area of the exterior wall in the basement and for cladding the interior loggia. The wall construction was based on the KFW 40 minimum requirements. The 160 mm thick solid wood wall was first fitted with a 160 mm thick mineral wool insulation (ISOVER Kontur FSP 1-032), followed by an underlay membrane. The cladding was then applied in a single layer with Rigips Glasroc X – the optimal foundation for the subsequently applied mesh reinforcement, a textured plaster, and a silicone resin paint. A key advantage: The available large format of the board enabled rapid and secure construction progress, as the 3,000 mm length allowed for floor-to-ceiling cladding. With its proven high-dimensional stability, Rigips Glasroc X is a reliable alternative that also convinces in terms of cost-effectiveness.
