Rigips Trophy – three decades of outstanding drywall achievements, also at the international level

New video showcases highlights of the awards gala

The 14th Rigips Trophy culminated in spring 2025 with an extraordinary awards gala, which this time was celebrated at the famous Albertinum in Dresden. For those who couldn’t attend: our new video captures the highlights and unique atmosphere of this highly successful evening, which brought together the top performers in German drywall construction to celebrate the best professionals and their projects. The video's highlight is the presentation of the golden trophies, which were awarded to the Ruben Peter Ausbau GmbH from Floh Seligenthal for the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf (Category “Culture Education Leisure”), the Okel GmbH & Co. KG from Diemelstadt for the Sartorius Building 26 in Göttingen (Category “Office Production”), and the Günter Nagel Bauleistungsservice GmbH from Teningen for the Music Academy in Staufen (Category “Ceiling Solutions”).

Off to the “World Championship of Drywall Construction”

The three award-winning drywall companies are heading to the next Trophy competition, which will take place on an international level. As part of the Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy, these professionals will showcase their exceptional projects and compete against participants from around the globe. The winners of the “World Championship of Drywall Construction” will be chosen by an international jury. The winners will receive their trophies in Paris on 10 April 2025.

Strong products, strong drywall construction, strong winners

On the international stage, the German Trophy's top winners will compete against projects of the highest quality, which stand out due to their perfect selection and skilful use of modern, high-performance building materials from RIGIPS.

Built to last with Habito
For the construction of stable walls with high load-bearing capacity in the Kunstpalast, Peter Ruben Ausbau GmbH relied on the massive and particularly durable drywall board Rigips Habito. For first-class room acoustics in the historic building, the perforated gypsum board Rigips Rigitone Activ’Air 8/18 was used, which features acoustic properties as well as the premium air purification effect Activ‘Air.

Fire protection with Rigips Glasroc F
The special fire protection board Rigips Glasroc F played a key role in the construction of Sartorius Building 26. This fleece-reinforced gypsum board was used for cladding steel beams and penetrations, among other things. To achieve the best possible surface quality, approximately 14,800 kg of Rigips VARIO joint filler was used for joints and connections, as well as Rigips ProMix Plus, a ready-to-use fine filler that can be applied manually or by machine.

Perfect soundproofing and room acoustics
The Music Academy in Staufen boasts perfect soundproofing throughout. In rehearsal rooms and communal areas, this is achieved using perforated Rigips Rigitone Activ’Air 8/18 gypsum boards. In the hotel rooms, Günter Nagel Bauleistungsservice GmbH used Rigidur gypsum fiberboards, which are classified as “non-combustible” according to DIN EN 13501-1, and are characterised by their exceptional hardness and durability. These boards can be used on floors, walls, ceilings and roofs.

14th Rigips Trophy - Categories, Winners, Nominees, Participants

Rigips Trophy makes history

With ever-new, impressive projects and even more powerful, user-friendly products, the Rigips Trophy has been making unstoppable German drywall construction history for almost thirty years. The projects submitted over the decades for the Trophy are like a chronicle of professional drywall construction:

Deutsches Theater München
One example is the renovation of the Deutsches Theater in Munich. Here, a three-dimensional, perforated gypsum ceiling was created, combining overlapping, curved and decoupled acoustic and soundproofing constructions with lighting channels for special effects. Rigips Rigidur H and Rigips Rigitone 8/18 R were primarily used for the sound-absorbing and sound-reflecting surfaces.

Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte in Regensburg
With room heights of up to 17 metres, large glass surfaces in the roof area and a freestanding drywall wall with a single-sided, vertically inclined surface, the interior construction requirements for this exciting project (the 12th Rigips Trophy) were numerous. In addition to Rigips Die Harte, which boasts excellent sound insulation and robustness, Rigips Die Dicke was used to construct wall and ceiling systems with fire protection requirements in the Regensburg museum.

Dorfkrug in Hanstedt
The “Dorfkrug” in Hanstedt, which was built in 1730, fell victim to a fire in 2006. Its reconstruction required an interior design based on complex drywall concepts, incorporating reliable fire protection alongside a harmonious blend of historical timber-frame features and contemporary design elements. The high-performance fire protection board Rigips Glasroc F was used for the cladding of the fire protection ceiling on the ground floor. The soundproof ceiling was clad in two layers using the soundproofing board Rigips Die Blaue.

Montblanc Haus in Hamburg
The impressive “Montblanc Haus” in Hamburg comprises a museum, café, boutique and modern training area, as well as a reception area. The building's design is inspired by the company's philosophy and a brand style icon: the elegantly curved body of a fountain pen. The craftsmanship required to meet the building's high architectural standards was therefore the focus of the drywall measures, including some very complex spatial intersections, free-floating staircases, and particularly outstanding surface treatments. Rigips Die Weiße, a special gypsum board with an exceptionally white surface, was used to create extraordinary spatial impressions.
