Turret Building, Emden

The "Türmchengebäude" in Emden was built in 1911 as an officers' casino for the former Karl-von-Müller barracks. After military use ended in 1997, the building remained vacant for a long time. About two years ago, the decision was made to completely renovate the historic building. A total of 45 apartments were created, offering modern comfort while meeting the requirements of monument preservation. Although existing specifications formed the basis of the plans, detailed planning was still necessary for many sections. In addition to the high soundproofing requirements, fire protection under monument preservation conditions posed a significant challenge. The MW Trockenbau expansion team implemented numerous firewalls using tested Rigips systems and developed various special solutions, such as cladding for all steel structures. Close collaboration with planners, clients and Rigips technicians was instrumental in achieving effective solutions. All walls requiring increased load capacity and all facing shells in the exterior wall area were clad with heavy-duty Rigips Habito drywall boards.
