Simple processing, optimal sound insulation, maximum benefit

New Rigidur sound insulation fill from RIGIPS – a highly durable and stable leveling layer

RIGIPS offers a dry and fast solution for creating a level load-bearing layer under dry screeds with the new Rigidur sound insulation fill made from natural anhydrite. Thanks to its extremely high raw density of around 1,600 kg/m³, this product from the drywall specialist is particularly effective at maximising impact sound insulation by adding weight to the ceiling structure. The best results are achieved by using the sound insulation fill in combination with ISOVER Akustic EP 3 screed insulation slabs and Rigidur dry screed elements, especially on wooden beam ceilings. These highly durable, prefabricated floor elements can be installed quickly and cleanly in both new builds and renovation projects. They are optimally tailored to sound, thermal and fire protection requirements and can be combined with all common floor coverings.

Wooden beam ceilings generally have poor sound insulation due to the lack of mass in the ceiling itself. Rigidur sound insulation fill, which is non-combustible (building material class A1), is used to create a load-bearing layer under dry screeds. With a particularly high raw density of approximately 1,600 kg/m³, it significantly improves the sound insulation of ceiling structures.

Mechanically bonded levelling layer

A special feature of the fill is its unique structure and grain size distribution: the material interlocks during spreading and levelling to form a highly durable, mechanically bonded levelling layer. This layer is resistant to settlement in fill heights ranging from 15 to 150 mm. Additional use of screed honeycombs or a binding agent is unnecessary, as is subsequent compaction, such as tamping.

Sound and fire protection in the system

The maximum improvement in impact sound insulation is achieved by combining Rigidur sound insulation fill with an impact sound insulation layer made from ISOVER Akustik EP 3 insulation slabs and Rigidur screed elements. With a construction height of 100 mm, these perfectly coordinated components deliver an impressive impact sound insulation value of only 27 dB for wooden beam ceilings in old buildings. This makes this ceiling construction one of the most efficient systems currently available on the market, as evidenced by documented tests. Furthermore, all Rigidur screed element variants in combination with the sound insulation fill achieve fire resistance class F90 from a thickness of 30 mm.

For all common floor coverings

The structure, which is made up of Rigidur screed elements and Rigidur sound insulation fill, allows for uneven floors to be levelled out and for cables and pipes to be hidden within the floor. All common floor coverings can be used in combination with the Rigidur screed elements, as detailed in the processing guidelines for floors.
