“Rigips Hybrid GK‑Top” – load‑bearing carrier for comfortable living
A hybrid is created when two proven systems with specific properties are combined to form a new whole with unique performance characteristics. This principle is not only innovative in the automotive industry. The Rigips Hybrid GK-Top wall system combines Rigips boards with Rigidur H gypsum fibreboards to create partition walls that deliver excellent performance in terms of sound insulation, fire protection and load-bearing capabilities.
The “Rigips Hybrid GK-Top” system comprises a wall system with a first layer of “Rigidur H” gypsum fibreboards, followed by a second layer of “Rigips RB” construction boards – optionally with a “Rigips RF” fire protection board depending on requirements. Partition walls constructed in this way are extremely stable and offer high living comfort, as well as excellent fire and sound insulation properties, at an attractive price.
Securely installed for greater living comfort
This system is particularly time-saving and cost-effective to install, as the “Rigidur H” gypsum fibreboards installed as the first layer in the “Rigips Hybrid GK-Top” wall system do not need to be jointed, and the “Rigips RB” construction boards can be stapled in four rows independently of the stud framework.
The system's high sound insulation and fire resistance values ensure true living comfort in terms of peace and safety. With a tested sound insulation rating of up to Rw,R exceeding 58 dB, it meets the most demanding soundproofing requirements. Additionally, constructions with fire protection classifications of up to F90 can be easily achieved. All constructions naturally come with certificates from an independent institute as official proof of their fire and sound insulation properties.
Furthermore, Rigips hybrid wall systems are characterised by their exceptional stability and robustness. Thanks to the extremely stable “Rigidur H” gypsum fibreboard, home accessories such as lamps or pictures weighing up to 40 kg can be attached to a “Rigips Hybrid GK-Top” wall without the need for anchors, simply by screwing them into any desired spot on the wall.
You can turn it any way you want
The Rigips hybrid wall comprises two layers on either side, one made of Rigidur H gypsum fibreboards and the other made of Rigips gypsum boards.
Depending on requirements, the hybrid wall systems from Rigips literally highlight the individual strengths of the respective drywall boards:
Rigips Hybrid GF-Top: a hard and scratch-resistant, robust surface that meets the extremely high demands a school building, for example.
Rigips Hybrid GK-Top: for an environment that guarantees peace and well-being at all times with high sound insulation values.
The hybrid wall system “Rigips Hybrid GK-Top” is also recommended for residential construction.
The gypsum board in the upper layer allows for versatile design options for residential walls.
Since the gypsum board can be stapled to the gypsum fibreboard in just a few steps, and since the first layer of gypsum fibreboards does not need to be jointed, this construction method is quick and cost-effective. Lamps or similar loads can then be screwed directly into the wall without the need for anchors, with a maximum load of 40 kg per attachment point. Another advantage of this combination in residential construction is the high level of sound insulation, which enhances living comfort even further.
System structure
• The first layer (inner) Rigidur H 12.5 is screwed with Rigidur quick construction screws 30 mm at a screw spacing of 250 mm.
• The second layer (outer) Rigips gypsum boards can be screwed into the Rigidur H gypsum fiberboard with Rigips quick construction screws 25 mm, alternatively stapled with steel wire staples 22 mm, independent of the substructure:
• Screws in three rows with 250 mm spacing, staples in four rows with 150 mm spacing (staple length: 22 mm, type spreader staple). The distances between studs must not exceed 625 mm.
Mineral wool can be installed as needed.

System advantages
• Sound insulation: With a tested sound insulation value of Rw,R up to 58 dB, the system confidently meets high soundproofing requirements.
• Fire protection: In terms of fire protection, the hybrid wall systems also offer proven protection and safety with F90 classification.
• Cost efficiency: Compared to similar constructions with two layers of gypsum fiberboards, material costs can be reduced by up to 50% by using Rigips gypsum boards for the second layer.
Processing advantages
• Jointing: The first layer (inner) Rigidur H gypsum fibreboards (SK) in butt joint installation does not need to be jointed.
• Attachment/construction time: Since the first layer does not need to be jointed and the second layer can be stapled, this leads to significant time savings. The first layer with Rigidur H gypsum fiberboards allows for stud-independent attachment of the second layer (outer/visible layer) using staples or screws.
• Load attachment: The perfect alternative to OSB – Compared to traditional drywall systems with 2 x 12.5 gypsum boards, Rigips hybrid walls (gypsum + gypsum fiberboards) perform significantly better. For example, using a simple Rigips quick construction screw or a metal cavity anchor, approximately double the weight can be attached.*
