Rigidur dry screed including ECOtherm underfloor heating

Anyone renovating an older house will want to install underfloor heating for extra comfort. Modern heat pumps can also be retrofitted in existing buildings and combined with underfloor heating.

For this application, a perfect combination is now available:

A dry screed made of Rigidur screed elements with integrated underfloor heating from ECOtherm.

Task:
Retrofit underfloor heating with a low installation height to maintain maximum room height. This provides a quick and economical upgrade with no long drying phases, resulting in a short construction period.
Solution:
The Rigidur dry screed floor incorporates highly efficient underfloor heating, installed using ECOtherm GmbH's milling technique. The system's low installation height and quick installation without long drying times are highly appealing. It is ideal for renovation or modernisation work, as it does not compromise the cosy warmth of underfloor heating. It is also suitable for retrofitting modern heat pump systems.

Installation 

1. Install dry screed
Firstly, the Rigidur dry screed must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

2. Mill cable channels
Next, channels for the heating pipes are milled where required.

3. Lay heating pipes
The heating pipes can then be laid immediately in the pre-milled channels.

4. Seal joints
After cleaning and vacuuming the entire floor, the joints are sealed. The floor is now ready for any additional flooring work.

Two steps to a new floor with integrated underfloor heating:

2. Milled underfloor heating from ECOtherm

Fire protection included

For fire protection requirements of F90 and exposure to fire from above, the minimum installation height of the dry screed, including the insulation and the ECOtherm underfloor heating, is 48 mm.

For creating a bonded levelling compound from 20 mm in combination with Rigidur levelling compound and Rigidur MixBinder.

Application areas

Construction variants 1 and 2 correspond to application areas in usage class 1, with a surface load of 2 kN/m² and a point load of 1 kN (for residential areas).
Construction variants 3a and 3b can be used in application areas of usage class 2, which has a surface load of 2 kN/m² and a point load of 2 kN (for residential and office areas). To achieve a level surface, the Rigidur levelling compound is installed.
