Underfloor heating systems not only create a pleasant and cozy warmth, but they also offer many creative freedoms in room planning and design. They are used in new constructions as well as for retrofitting energy-efficient renovations in older buildings. 

The conversion, e.g., to modern heat pumps in existing buildings, can be well combined with underfloor heating. For this application, a perfect combination is available: A dry screed made of Rigidur screed elements with an integrated underfloor heating system from ECOtherm.

In the Rigidur dry screed floor, an underfloor heating system with highly efficient heating performance is installed using the milling technology of ECOtherm GmbH.

Absolutely convincing is the low installation height of the systems and the quick installation without long drying times. Ideal for renovation or modernization work without sacrificing the cozy warmth of underfloor heating, and also usable when converting to modern heat pump systems.

Task

In the Waldorf elementary school, classrooms were created for 100 elementary students to support them in learning. The comfortable atmosphere created by the floor heating system was to be securely protected with a robust dry screed.

The use of Rigidur screed elements 20 ensures the fulfillment of all requirements for durability, fire protection, thermal conductivity, and sustainability. Processing in the angled rooms was also quick and easy.

Perfect Combinations

The most important feature of the combination of floor heating and dry screed is a slim structure, enabling the fastest and most efficient heat transfer possible.

Therefore, the Rigidur screed element with only 20 mm construction height is already suitable as dry screed. This ensures quick heating and precise temperature control. Furthermore, the Rigidur screed elements, combined with the matching Rigidur screed adhesive, are easy and quick to process. However, additional requirements for the floor structure often need to be met, such as soundproofing or fire protection, or height adjustment during renovation. Suitable combinations with additional insulation layers, as listed in the table below, are ideal for this purpose.
