Drywall cladding boards
The optimal solution for a new living space, sound insulation and thermal insulation
Old, irregular or crooked walls, which are often found in basements or attics, can be costly to renovate. Removing old plaster and applying new plaster is time-consuming and labour-intensive. A simpler alternative is to use cladding boards, which improve the appearance and significantly enhance sound and thermal insulation. There are two main types: directly attached and freestanding cladding boards.
Directly fixed cladding boards
Cladding boards that are mounted directly onto existing walls are ideal for flat surfaces. Various attachment methods can be employed, including adjustable swing brackets or direct fasteners. The construction is based on a framework made of CD 60/27 profiles. According to the manufacturer's instructions, a vapour barrier, ideally moisture-variable, should be applied to prevent moisture damage. Precise workmanship is especially important at the connection points.
Freestanding cladding boards
Freestanding cladding boards are the preferred option if you want to improve the room's sound insulation or hide cables behind the wall. All necessary installations must be completed before mounting. Please note that water-bearing pipes should not be laid in the insulation or on exterior walls, as this increases the risk of frost damage. If the existing masonry is too uneven or does not allow direct attachment, freestanding constructions with CW 50-150 profiles are also a sensible option. Any unevenness can be compensated for by placing spacers underneath.
Improvement of sound and thermal insulation with mineral wool
Adding an extra 40 mm-thick layer of mineral wool to the cavity of the cladding board significantly improves both sound and thermal insulation. To prevent thermal bridging, the space between the substructure and exterior wall must be fully insulated.
