13th SAINT-GOBAIN GYPSUM International Trophy 2023

It was only in March of this year that Okel GmbH & Co. KG of Diemelstadt celebrated its success at the 13th Rigips Trophy 2021I 2023. With its entry for the new Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology in Kassel, the expansion team led by managing director Burkhard Okel won first prize in the Non-Residential category. This is a victory that the company has now "topped" by winning the silver trophy in the Non-Residential category at the SAINT-GOBAIN GYPSUM International Trophy 2023 – the unofficial world championship of drywall construction.

Managing director Burkhard Okel and responsible construction manager Mirko Rohdenburg were clearly overjoyed when their success was announced in front of a large audience on the evening of 28 April, as they stepped onto the stage to receive the award. They had previously won the 13th Rigips Trophy with their entry, which was then selected as the winner of the SAINT-GOBAIN GYPSUM International Trophy 2023, beating 73 other expansion projects from 27 countries. The world championship of drywall construction took place in sunny Athens this year, creating an elegant and relaxed atmosphere at the award ceremony held at the Vorres Art Museum.

"The entire German "travel group"– in addition to Okel GmbH & Co. KG, the German winners of the 13th Rigips Trophy in the Residential and Drywall categories – came to Athens, where they were cheered on that evening and celebrated together following the announcement of the results", said Trophy coordinator Karin Melder. "German drywall construction has once again proven that it operates at the highest international level. The entire RIGIPS team congratulates Burkhard Okel and his team on this amazing success!”
