Fully protected façades in timber construction
Innovative external wall constructions with Rigips Glasroc X
With Glasroc X, drywall specialist RIGIPS offers a proven and particularly high-performance solution for use in humid and wet rooms as well as for the cladding of exterior ceilings. From now on, timber construction companies, carpentries, timber module builders, and prefabricated house manufacturers can also benefit from the advantages of this special fleece-armoured gypsum board because, with a new usability certificate (ETA-21/0179), Rigips Glasroc X is now also recommended as a bracing and directly renderable board in façade constructions. All-around protected facades: the inorganic surface of Rigips Glasroc X, equipped with a highly UV-resistant glass fleece, enables temporary, direct weather exposure, so that exterior walls remain protected from the elements for several months. At the same time, the board surface is optimised for the application of render systems, which then take on the function of permanent weather protection. Photo: SAINT-GOBAIN RIGIPS GMBH
Rigips Glasroc X provides proven reliable moisture protection both outside and inside. The board corresponds to type GM-FH1 according to DIN EN 15283-1 and has a highly moisture- and mould-resistant gypsum core reinforced with glass fibres. The inorganic surface, equipped with a highly UV-resistant glass fleece, enables temporary, direct weather exposure. This way, exterior walls remain protected immediately after cladding with Glasroc X and sealing the board joints with Glasroc X joint tape for several months, providing flexibility during construction. At the same time, the board surface is optimised for the application of render systems, which later permanently protect against the weather.
The lightweight, safe, and economical alternative
Rigips Glasroc X offers proven safety in three system variants: as a directly clad and renderable board in timber board construction exterior walls, as a directly renderable board with non-insulated or insulated timber substructure, and as a base for external thermal insulation composite systems. For maximum safety, optimally coordinated system components such as the Glasroc X joint tape, the Glasroc X clip-on profile, as well as Rigips GOLD and Rigips TITAN quick construction screws as alternative fasteners to the steel wire staples commonly used in timber construction, are provided.
“The board is the ideal and economical solution for craftsmanship timber construction and prefabrication,” explains Philip Boddez, responsible product manager at RIGIPS. "Compared to other board materials for outdoor use, Glasroc X is significantly lighter, which makes handling at height noticeably easier. The boards can be easily scored and then broken precisely at the cutting edge or cut to size with a circular saw and guide rail. In addition, the new large format of the board allows for quick and safe construction progress, as full story heights can be clad thanks to the length of 3,000 mm. With its proven high-dimensional stability, Rigips Glasroc X is a safe alternative that also convinces in terms of economic efficiency."

Powerful fire and sound protection included
In addition to reliable weather protection, Rigips Glasroc X also ensures impressive “internal” values for fire and sound protection, as Andreas Ebbers, responsible development engineer and timber construction expert at RIGIPS, explains: "With a corresponding abP from ift Rosenheim, there is a fire protection usability certificate confirming that facade constructions with Rigips Glasroc X can be used as building closing walls. At the same time, additional interior measures can achieve sound insulation values of up to 66 dB."
