High-performance profile receives European patent

RigiProfil MultiTec: improved sound insulation and easier installation

For many years, RIGIPS has offered a particularly high-performance range of profiles for premium drywall construction with RigiProfil MultiTec. Thanks to their unique surface structure, the profiles and the wall systems built using them provide excellent sound insulation. At the same time, the profiles are especially easy and secure to process and transport. These tangible advantages have now been recognised by the granting of a European patent (EP 3 017 120 B1).

European Patent for RigiProfil MultiTec: Thanks to its unique surface structure, the proven high-performance profile from manufacturer RIGIPS achieves top values in sound insulation. At the same time, processing and transporting the profiles is especially easy and secure. All information at www.rigips.de/rigiprofil. Photo: SAINT-GOBAIN RIGIPS GMBH

The unique features of RigiProfil MultiTec are clear to see: the system profile's proven, slightly ribbed MultiTec surface structure makes it a real multitalent for substructures in Rigips walls, ceilings and wall linings.

Integrated Sound Insulation

This distinctive surface structure improves the sound insulation of wall constructions by up to 4 dB compared to standard constructions. This enables highly soundproof partitions or walls that are up to 20 per cent thinner with the same sound insulation performance — a space gain that is beneficial in terms of both marketing and real estate use.

Shorter processing times, higher quality

The advantages are evident even during transport to the construction site: The finely structured surface of the RigiProfil MultiTec reliably prevents stacked profiles from slipping. This structure also offers clear benefits during further processing. The surface provides numerous screw starting points and an extremely stable profile cross-section, enabling precise and secure screwing, even in the edge area, without any risk of slipping. This is particularly useful when attaching hard gypsum boards or robust gypsum fibre boards, for example.

Additionally, the linear surface structure enables particularly clean and easy cutting. Tin snips, for example, are perfectly guided, enabling optimal cut edges. The structure can also be used as a bending edge if needed.

Greater safety through secure locking

The MultiTec surface makes it easier to lock the profiles into each other, ensuring a particularly secure setting, alignment and nesting. Any fixations or readjustments of the studwork are unnecessary, saving time. However, the profiles can still be shifted manually with ease. A central rib in the profile's web serves as a guide for comfortable and accurate positioning of wall and ceiling coverings.
