Architecture 2026 by Saint-Gobain
New architects’ event met with strong interest
Under the headline "System solutions for a future-oriented building culture", the Saint-Gobain Group held two informative events for architects in Cologne on 14 April 2026 and in Frankfurt am Main on 21 April. Architects and planners, as well as representatives from construction, housing and project development companies, were invited to attend, regardless of brand. More than 200 people attended the diverse keynotes and exciting presentations by high-profile speakers and took the opportunity to share their expertise.
Under the headline “System solutions for a future-oriented building culture,” the Saint-Gobain Group held two high-calibre architect events in Cologne on 14 April 2026 and in Frankfurt am Main on 21 April. Architects and planners, as well as representatives from construction, housing, and project development companies, were invited across all brands.
Participants were treated to engaging discussions on future forms and methods of construction in exceptional locations — the Smartvillage in Cologne-Mülheim and the Frankfurt Fraport Visitor Centre. At the heart of these conversations was the question of how to realise sophisticated architecture in the most climate-friendly way possible. This and many other challenging questions were debated from various perspectives during the one-day event.
High-profile speakers
Renowned thought leaders Karsten Schwanke, the well-known TV weather presenter, meteorologist and climate expert, and Lukas Sander, the project manager for climate adaptation and resilient spatial development at the Prognos Institute, were secured by Saint-Gobain. The event also featured distinguished architects who captivated the audience with presentations of their current projects in Germany.
"Both events received consistently positive feedback and demonstrate the relevance of forward-looking construction", said Christian Bako, CEO of Saint-Gobain Germany & Austria. "The construction sector is responsible for 40% of CO₂ emissions, 50% of raw material extraction and 35% of waste. This can be changed. But we can’t do it alone. I see us — the industry — and architects as being in the same boat."
The event series is planned to continue in 2027. Information and registration options will be available in autumn 2026.
